WHO FOUNDED FUNCTION THROUGH LIFE?

MEET TANYA
Tanya Lyttle is the founder of Function Through Life, a practice dedicated to tailored, client-centred therapy to help adults improve or restore body awareness, sensory perception, movement, daily functioning, and enhance well-being through Occupational Therapy and the Feldenkrais Method.
She is a Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner and Registered Occupational Therapist (OT) who graduated from Curtin University of Technology, W. Australia, in Occupational Therapy (BaAppSc(OT)Hons) in Feb 1991 and awarded a Master of Science (OT) in 1996. In 1999, she completed the Feldenkrais Method Practitioner training in Lewes, England.
Over the last 30 years, the Feldenkrais Method has informed and been combined with her practice of Occupational Therapy when working with adults; especially in elderly and stroke rehabilitation in a range of hospital and community settings both in Australia and England; supported her academic teaching; and helped with personal recovery from surgery and sporting injuries by provoking her curiosity, inspiring, and guiding her in helping clients increase their body awareness and use their brain plasticity to learn new patterns of action to improve their movement and everyday functioning with increased ease, comfort, and/or efficiency. Tanya continues to maintain her currency and fuel her thirst for learning by undertaking Continuing Professional Development in both the Feldenkrais Method and Occupational Therapy and related areas.
FAQs
WHO DO WE WORK WITH?
We work with adults in the community who are seeking:
- to satisfy their curiosity and to learn more about The Feldenkrais Method and themselves
- to age better by improving their movement organisation and/or improve their balance and posture
- to improve their general sense of well-being and comfort including relaxing/calming their nervous system, and reducing muscular tension, mild anxiety, and/or chronic pain.
- to move more easily, learn new ways of moving, or widen movement possibilities, or improve motor control to use in everyday life and activities, (e.g. improve reaching and hand usage, lying, rolling over, sitting, standing, walking or functional tasks).
- to aid their injury, stroke, or neurological rehabilitation once medically stable after their acute recovery.
